Books I Want to Read in October

For the past few months, I haven’t been reading as much as I would like to. So, for October, I plan to get back into reading more. I recently bought these three books, so I plan to complete them by the end of the month!

Hocus Pocus & The Sequel

This movie defined Halloween when I was a kid. Even as an adult, I still love to watch this movie. I have been hoping for a sequel for a long time. Even though there hasn’t been a cinematic sequel, I am so excited they have a book version. I am so excited for this that I am trying to finish the book I am currently reading, so I can start this one! The sequel takes place 25 years after the original, and it will follow the daughter of Max and Allison– and the Sanderson sisters are baaack!

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

This will be the second book I have read by this author. I read Gone Girl a few years back, and I thought it was okay. I really loved the twists and turns, but it was a slow read for me overall. It took me several tries to get through it. I am excited for Sharp Objects because I reallllly want to watch the show, and I don’t want to watch it until I’ve read the book. The book is about a reporter that has to return to her home town to report on the local murders. Based on the synopsis, it seems like this might be a psychological thriller and those are one of my favorite types of books. I love trying to figure out who the killer is and how everything connects to the main character.

Without Mercy by Lisa Jackson

I have never read anything by Lisa Jackson before, but the description of this book pulled me in. The main character – Jules – begins working a teaching job where a student was hanged. Apparently, it is believed as…. murder..  Seems spooky enough. I’m excited for this one. Again I love books with mystery, blood thirsty killers, and death. Perfect for Halloween. 🙂

I may review one or more of these later on, so if you are interested in my thoughts regarding any of these let me know!
